25 Years: A Legacy of Hope, Healing & Resilience

The Canadian Centre for Refugee & Immigrant Healthcare is celebrating 25 years of operations in the community.

Toronto, Canada – Marking a significant milestone, the Canadian Centre for Refugee & Immigrant Healthcare (CCRIHC) commemorates its 25th anniversary, celebrating a long-standing commitment to providing critical healthcare services to refugees and immigrants in Canada. Since its inception, CCRIHC has been at the forefront of offering compassionate care and support to some of the most vulnerable members of our society, embodying a mission that has remained unwavering over the years.

In an era where the global displacement crisis has reached unprecedented levels, surpassing even the post-World War II era in scale and complexity, the role of CCRIHC has never been more crucial. Refugees and immigrants arriving in Canada are often confronted with daunting challenges, including navigating a new healthcare system while balancing the immediate needs of their families with their own health concerns.

CCRIHC’s dedicated team of volunteer healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and wound care staff, tirelessly work on the ground in Toronto’s streets and shelters, providing essential medical care and education on self-care practices. Many of the individuals they assist have never had access to primary medical care, making CCRIHC’s services not just valuable, but lifesaving.

The story of CCRIHC is one of hope, struggle, and resilience, mirroring the journey of many refugees and immigrants to Canada, as well as Canada’s own narrative of welcoming and supporting those in need. Over the past 25 years, the support from everyday Canadians has been instrumental in enabling CCRIHC to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of vulnerable newcomers.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to the continued support from the community to help CCRIHC advance its mission. The Centre’s work is made possible through the generosity of donors, and we invite everyone to join us in this cause. Contributions will directly support the provision of quality healthcare services to those who need them most.
