rEFUGEE dIARIES
The patients described here have been seriously harmed because they were denied access when they needed healthcare. Other patients have died. They reside here, work here and pay Ontario taxes. They live in your community as nannies to your children, as waitresses in restaurants, as migrant farm workers and as crossing guards. The dominant demographic group that is denied access is comprised of children, youth and pregnant women. These are typical cases and each is the result of OHIP denial – each results in cruel and unusual health and financial outcomes. These cases are drawn from CCRIHC’s medical charts and patients experience.
