Donate Your Birthday
Make your birthday wish extra-special this year!
When you donate your birthday by fundraising for New Canadians, you are restoring their hopes, dignity, and resiliency for long-term success in Canada.
Each day our volunteer team and staff help as many of them as we can. Seventy percent are women and children. Fleeing genital cutting and mutilation is common. Government resettled refugees are frequently turned away for medical care by doctors and clinics who won’t accept their Canadian Federal Health Insurance coverage. Refugees making claims for asylum in Canada are often caught in healthcare limbo without any health insurance when claims are denied or interrupted. New Permanent Residents accepted by Canada must go without healthcare access for 90 days. Sometimes they break an arm, get a fever, find a lump in their breast. Medical bills are astronomical. New beginnings end.
Many find their way to our volunteer-driven medical, mental health and dental clinics at The Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Healthcare in Toronto. Each day our volunteer teams and staff help newcomers who need medical care and support. Healthy children are better able to play and learn. Healthy adults are better able to contribute socially and economically to Canada’s future.

In 2018 our Centre received government support – almost 20 years after first opened our clinics It covers 40% of the funds we need to provide medical, dental and social / mental health care services to new Canadians who struggle for access to much needed care as the start over. For the shortfall, the other 60% we rely on public support and corporate donors.
Monthly donations provide a reliable source of support for our work. We can plan our work zones. They add stability. They let us respond urgently, nimbly, in crisis situations. They reduce administrative costs, leaving more funds for direct medical care.
Monthly giving makes everyone’s donation more reliably Any amount helps and is added to an expanding pool of usable funding to help our patients on an ongoing bais. We can’t stress enough how enabling this is for smaller charities that are tackling major social inequities. It is how we help young donors who want to help but wonder if what they can afford will make real difference? The answer is yes. It is your donation amplifies the funds others give.
